Photos of Mt. Rainier Hike, "Dege Peak" trail.

Captain's Log
Earth Date: 2014 July 13

Since I was phone less on the hike, Zach took photos in my stead. Here are the best ones:

The hike was only 3 miles, and was a bitch in the beginning and it was as if Mother Nature was saying, "turn back, you sissy! You cannot handle my 'curves and edges, all my perfect imperfections.'" But after the initial climb (incline 30 degrees-ish, for .5 miles), the trial was easy-peasy, nice and flat for the most part and filled with some of the most lovely vistas of varied nature: alpine/evergreen forests, hilly meadows, sparkling with yellow, purple, blue and pink wild flowers; and the contrast of the rolling hills with the majestic mountain/dormant volcano, Mt. Rainier, in the back ground. Parts of the trail were covered over with snow, which made navigating the trail a little interesting and succeeded once at seducing us down the wrong path: a narrow (12 inch-wide) trail with a steep, rocky drop off to our left side. Once we figured out that The Great Mother had deceived us and was probably laughing at her cleverness, we found our way back the Dege Peak Trail, by climbing over a snow dune. Relieved that we were not, in fact, going to die, we made our way up the trail to Dege Moutain's peak, which was infested with vermin mosquitos and bees (so many bees, for those of you worried about the bee population: worry no more). Instead of eating our sandwich and Cliff Bar feast atop the mountain, we opted to return to a lower and less infested area. With our appetites satiated and our vigor revived, we headed back down the mountain, ready for the 3.5 hour drive to Bellevue, WA.
This are is outrageously beautiful. In my opinion, more beautiful than anything nature I have seen in CA. Good lord. Thank you, to the Great Mother for providing us with this amazing beauty. #respectnature #mothernature #oneearth

On another note, please revisit the log entry about the fine dining experience at Clyde and Commons, as I have posted a video link of Zach and his yacht club voice (note the fancy pinky). Also we have been back dating some of the posts, since we do not always have internet service. So the bog entry dates are accurate, but you may notice that there are new posts for an earlier date that were not there a few days ago. Sorry if that was confusing. In short, just keep scrolling up and down the page and revisiting pages you think you have already seen because we have been adding/editing them. :)

Panda, out.
